Funding

Sessions can be funded using the following ways:

  • NDIS clients

  • Medicare

  • Private Health clients

  • Private clients

Please note to ensure equity, all sessions will be charged at the NDIS gazetted rate of $193.99 per hour

Session length

  • Short therapy session:

    • 30 minutes face-to-face, 10 mins follow up and documentation = 40 minutes total charged

  • Standard therapy session:

    • 45 minutes face-to-face, 15 minutes follow up and documentation = 60 minutes total charged

  • Extended/ complex session:

    • 60 minutes face-to face, 15 minutes follow up and documentation= 75 minutes total charged.

Additional costs

Travel costs:

As per the NDIS price guide, therapist travel time to/from sessions is charged at 50% of the standard NDIS hourly rate.

This equates to $96.99 per hour.

A maximum of 30mins travel time 1-way will be charged to clients.


Billed non-facing tasks:

  • Creation of resources

  • Report writing

  • Information sharing or gathering with other professionals (where required), including multidisciplinary meetings

  • Administration, completion and interpretation of assessment results

  • Therapy planning or specific therapeutic research (where required and agreed upon between parties)

All non-facing tasks will be billed at 193.99 per hour, however time taken and billing will be discussed with clients prior to being billed.

NDIS funded clients:

More Than Words Speech Pathology is currently able to support NDIS clients who are self-managed or plan-managed. Please note, NDIA supported clients can not be seen at this time.

Payment options:


For self-managed clients, an invoice will be emailed to the client, with payment required within 5 days of the session. The fee can then be claimed back through your NDIS portal. 

For plan-managed clients, an invoice will be emailed directly to your nominated plan manager service.

Medicare funded clients:

Clients are able to access the following medicare plans:

Chronic/ complex condition management plan

Supports clients with a chronic/ complex medical condition who require a multidisciplinary approach to care.

This plan can be accessed via a GPs, it is up to the discretion of the GP to determine if these plans are appropriate for the client

Under this plan Medicare will provide rebate of $61.80 for a maximum of five sessions per calendar year.

Complex Neurodevelopment management plan

Offers 20 rebated sessions for speech pathology for children and young people up to age 25

This plan can be implemented by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.

This service can be utilised if a client has been diagnosed and is awaiting NDIS funding or is not eligible for NDIS funding.

A total of 20 Allied health sessions can be subsidised over the patients lifetime.

Under this plan Medicare will provide rebate of $89.50.

Note: if the client/ their family have reached the medicare safety net or hold a valid concession card the rebated amount increases significantly.

Private Health coverage

Contact your Private Health provider directly to determine eligibility and amount of the cost covered.

Full payment is required at the time of the appointment. The client is then able to lodge the claim and be reimbursed directly.

Clients will be charged the gazetted NDIS of $193.99 per hour for the session.

Private paying clients

Payments accepted via direct transfer, credit/debit card and cash.

Fees for private paying clients are:

$193.99 per hour, and are the same as the gazetted NDIS rate for Speech Pathology.

Full payment is expected at the time of the appointment.
